My Life Experience

My life has been shaped by both adversity and transformation.

Like many people with ADHD, I spent years wondering why life often felt harder than it seemed to be for everyone else. I struggled with emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, addiction, relationships, money, impulsivity and feeling different from the people around me. For many years, I carried guilt, blame and shame without truly understanding why I thought, felt and behaved the way I did.

Today, I understand that much of my journey was influenced by ADHD, trauma and life experiences that shaped the way my brain and nervous system responded to the world.

I grew up in a single-parent household after my father died at a young age and being raised by an aggressive alcoholic mother. From childhood onwards, I experienced many of the challenges that can impact emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and a sense of safety in the world. Especially without any guidance or direction from positive role models.

Despite these challenges, I always carried a belief that life could be different. Life could get better.

My career has taken me on a unique path. I began working with young children before moving into business, managing and owning nightclubs in the UK and overseas. Later, I worked in finance, founded a technology company and experienced both significant successes and major setbacks as an entrepreneur.

Like many people with ADHD, my life has been full of highs and lows, lessons and reinventions. From winning industry awards and being featured in Forbes magazine, to businesses failing and having to start from scratch (again!).

I have been married, divorced, struggled with addiction and traumas, rebuilt my life and raised children with different personalities and challenges, including ADHD. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how life can affect us emotionally, psychologically and neurologically.

My own ADHD diagnosis later in life in my 50s, became a turning point.

Around the same time, one of my children was diagnosed with ADHD. Wanting to understand both my child and myself better, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about ADHD, neurodiversity, trauma, emotional regulation, brain health and human behaviour.

That journey eventually became the foundation of The ADHD Expert.

Today, I combine lived experience with extensive professional training as an ADHD therapist, coach and Brain Health Professional. I have studied with many of the world's leading experts in ADHD, trauma, psychotherapy, brain health and developmental functional neurology, completing 1,000s of hours of advanced professional development, focused on understanding how the brain functions and how healthier brain function can support cognition, emotional regulation and behaviour. This has allowed me to share my knaowledge and insights to help improve other people's lives.

I have also developed and overseen addiction recovery workshops, helping people overcome addiction and improve their mental health. Through this work I have seen first-hand how trauma, emotional pain, addiction and ADHD can become closely intertwined.

What makes my approach different is that I understand ADHD from multiple perspectives.

  • As a professional.

  • As a parent.

  • And as someone who has lived it and overcome many adversities.

I understand what it feels like to struggle, to feel misunderstood, to question yourself and to wonder if things will ever get better.

I also know that change is possible.

Because I have lived it and have have changed beyond belief.

My work is built on a simple belief:

When we understand the brain, support the nervous system and look beneath the struggle, positive change becomes possible.

  • Knowledge is power.

  • The power to understand yourself.

  • The power to improve your life.

  • The power to thrive.

No matter where you are today, it is never too late to learn something new, change direction, heal, grow and create a healthier future.

I would be honoured to help you on that journey.

My Mission — Helping Adults With ADHD In The Uk

My life has demonstrated that it is possible to overcome any adversity by working through any challenge you encounter. Sometimes this requires talking to someone more experienced who fully understands and empathises with your situation. I have always had a real connection with people, and I have always wanted to help people in any way I can, regardless of your issue or your background.

We are all human, we are all connected, we are all one, and our human nature is to ultimately help one another to become better people.

I always knew that my journey would inevitably lead me to this point helping people change for the better, and I would like to work with you in some way to help you change for the better.

Change is good for everyone
